Are you ready for the storybook wedding of the year? How about about a visit from Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz? Well, get ready for the wedding of Cristina and Quincy at the Naples Grande Beach Resort, on Saturday March 27, 2010.

Rewind for a moment to her sister Jennifer’s wedding - that’s were we met Cristina for the first time.  Now, fast forward to present day and we find her perfect wedding set on the beach with what seems to be thousands of roses, followed by a stunning reception in the upstairs ballroom of Naples Grande, capped off with a night club style dance party later on in another ball room!

To say the flowers and lighting design from this wedding was breathtaking is an understatement - I think we can see Cristina’s reaction as she enters the room for her first dance!

Later, her dad played a short clip from Wizard of Oz (one of her all time favorites) and presented her with red ruby slippers, just before her first dance. WOW, he sure sets the standard for the rest of us dads!

Take a look through a few of these great stills from our video and then prepare for their truly amazing Director’s Cut.

We couldn’t be happier to be with such a fun family, such a grand wedding, and such a fabulous couple who glowed through the entire night.

Congratulations Cristina and Quincy!

Now watching: Danielle and Brian - Bellasera Hotel, Naples Wedding

Danielle and Brian were married on Friday April 9, 2010 at Our lady Of Light Catholic Church in Estero.

Here you can see a sweet kiss from Danielle’s flower girl which just stopped our heart - she was soooo cute!  Danielle also had bunches of orchids as her flower of choice - one of our most favorites since we are fans of growing them at home.  The flowers were done by Muffy at Libby’s Flowers, aren’t they beautiful !  This cake was done by Kakes By Karen.  It looks amazing!

As you can also see, Danielle’s dress was absolutely gorgeous with a vintage look that just catches your eye!

Following the ceremony, Danielle and Brian exited through bubbles to a vintage car that whisked them to a few photo locations with Michelle Reed Photography and finally to their reception at Bellasera in Naples. We even managed to get a moving clip of the car on the highway - we’ll have to see how it looks during editing though!

Set on the terrace outside, Patrick from Aace Entertainment entertained the guests through cocktail hour and the main reception and we even had a chance to run off to the beach with MRP to get a few last minute shots at sunset!

Congratulations Danielle and Brian - what a wonderful special day!

Now watching: Here Comes Steven!

steveng

Our new kid on the block is Steven.  I was so excited when we met Steven.  I just knew he would be a great addition to our team, and he has all ready exceeded our expectations.   He is our talented artist fresh from Full Sail University.  Steven brings so much to AMC Video from expertise with the camera to web design and he is  full of new ideas to help AMC  stay on top.   Steven is extremely detail oriented, creative and and all around an amazing person.  We are  thrilled to have Steven working with us.  Here is Steven’s bio:

Born and raised in Fort Myers, Florida, Steven has always been inspired by art. As a child he loved painting and creating something original. His love for all aspects of art led him to Full Sail University where he received his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Film. Instead of creating a masterpiece on canvas he now creates moving art for AMC.

After college Steven decided to move to LA, where he gained experience as a camera operator working on Independent Films, music videos, and commercials. Being an artist on the side makes Steven a very powerful asset to our team here at AMC video. Having a creative eye is essential to creating the best picture possible for any project.

“Working for AMC video has allowed me to continue to use my skills and techniques as a videographer and pursue my passion in the field of moving art.”

Recently we had the pleasure of working with the Henderson family to film the wedding of their daughter Laura to Jay at First United Methodist Church in Fort Myers, on Saturday March 20, 2010.

What a beautiful day it was - the church filled with friends and family and after the official “I do’s”, guests crossed the street to enjoy the tented reception at the Burrough’s Home on the river.

Glowing at night against the perfect sunset, the open air reception was a charming backdrop for the beautiful couple.

Michelle Reed Photography sent us a few photos of the evening pictured here.

Congratulations Jay and Laura. We wish you many years of happiness and want to thank the Henderson family especially for including us at this wonderful wedding event!

Now watching: Jaron - Lead Videographer

jaron

Meet Jaron! He has been with us the longest, and we are thrilled to have him.  Jaron has been with AMC for the past eight years. Before joining the AMC team, however, he worked as an editor and camera operator in a television studio. As one of our veteran videographers, Jaron’s been behind the camera in many diverse situations, which has paved the way for him to sharpen his expertise. As a result, Jaron is very skilled at adapting to and navigating a myriad of environments. His versatility, execution, and stability ensure that each wedding he films is exclusive and inspiring to watch.

“When filming, I really like making them feel as comfortable as possible. The big day can be stressful for both the bride and the groom, so it’s important to keep everybody at ease and enjoying the sentimentality of the day.”

As an avid football fan and one of AMC’s seasoned videographers with an instinctive nature and masterful understanding of cinematography, some of Jaron’s favorite weddings to film have been for Josh Reed of the Buffalo Bills and also for Todd Johnson of the Saint Louis Rams.

Stay tuned for another artist spotlight!

Now watching: Meet Lee - Lead Videographer

lee

It’s time for another team member profile.  This week meet Lee, one of our lead videographers.   Lee is our “steady eddy”.  He’s calm, cool and collected.   I have spent many years working side by side with Lee, and I don’t think I have ever seen him get flustered once.  He knows  exactly what to say and what to do.  He is so  easy going, and our brides and grooms feel right at home with him.  He is multi-talented man and a great asset to our team here at AMC Video.  Just take a look at Lee’s profile and you will quickly see what I mean:

Lee is Currently pursuing his doctorate degree from Boston University, where he completed his Master’s Degree.  His keen artistic eye and talent for capturing the moment make him a natural and compelling cinematographer.. In addition, Lee’s expertise extends beyond the camera: he’s also an Adobe certified expert and web master.

“Understanding the editing process and what goes on after the shooting is done is critically important. That knowledge of film composition enables me to be a better cinematographer, because I know which shots will look good and will really work in the final film.”

With Lee’s attentiveness to detail, personable personality, and belief in creating unique, beautiful and high quality film, it’s no surprise that his videos have been continuously praised by our clients. Furthermore, Lee’s knowledge and creative skill have helped AMC become one of the most sought after wedding and special event film companies in Southwest Florida

Coming Soon, another team member’s profile!

Now watching: Meet Matias - Man who does it all!

Matias

Employee Spotlight!  Up first is Matias!  Everyone loves Matias!  We are very happy to have Matias be part of our team.    He is extremely talented and I have to say is the most positive person I have ever met.  Sometimes we call him Mr. Lucky.  Things just go his way.  You just can’t help smile when you are around him.  We are the lucky ones  to have been working with Matias for the past 5 years!  If you are lucky, Matias will be filming your wedding!

Here is Matias’s impressive bio:

Having worked in post production and audio design for such prestigious companies as HBO, Cinemax, Warner, and Disney, Matias has been bringing his artistic talents to AMC for the past five years. A distinguished videographer, his instinctive nature and natural ability allow him to effortlessly capture the unique essence of each wedding.

Matias is also AMC’s Jib master and looks forward to our cinematic weddings where he can employ some more creative techniques and equipment like the Jib to make wedding videos as cinematic as possible!

Matias, who is fluent in both English and Spanish, earned his bachelor’s degree in Film from Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. “I’ve always been drawn to the inherent emotions of weddings, and grasping that on film and composing it in such a way to create a unique, personalized work of art is extraordinary. You’ve only got one chance to capture the beauty, timelessness, and love in each wedding, so it’s critical to have someone experienced behind the camera.”

While Matias finds inspiration in filming and post production, he’s currently pursuing his Master’s in Business Administration and plans to combine that knowledge  in his future endeavors at AMC.

Julie and Zak came all the way from Chicago to get married in the beautiful Naples Botanical Garden.  The big day happened on Saturday February, 20  2010.

We  started with Julie that morning while she was getting her hair done with her girls at the salon.  This is always fun to capture.  Then we went on to the boys who were hanging out at a nearby hotel.  Both Bride and Groom were super excited for the moment to arrive.

The Naples Botanical Garden is such a pretty spot for a ceremony.  Just take a look at the ceremony site in the picture below.  Seaside Strings played for us  and Rev Les Wicker performed the  intimate ceremony.   Afterward, our couple headed down to the beach for some photo/video time.  We were joined by Tonya Malay and her team.  Then onto Kensington Golf and Country Club for our reception where Brett Foreman and his Band entertained the crowd of about 150 people. This entire event was planned by Kelly  of  No Worries Weddings and Events.

At the end of the evening our newlyweds took off in a decorated golf cart.  It was perfect.  Well done!

What a fantastic way to start the new year with a spectacular wedding celebration at South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island.  Ashley and Grant had an amazing weekend.  We started with our couple on Friday night, January 1st for their rehearsal dinner.  Guests were treated to a sunset cruise aboard the Blue Lady with Captiva Cruises,  followed by a delicious dinner.  We love to capture rehearsal dinners.  They are so many great toasts and our bride and groom are so excited for what lies ahead.

The next day we started REALLY early.  Rob and his team  were at the golf course while the groomsmen teed off at 8 am in order to capture a lit bit of all the festivities.   We also were able to catch the bridal lunch and the grooms lunch poolside at the cabanas.  If you have not checked out the cabanas at South Seas Island Resort, I suggest you do so!  TV, refrigeration, couches, it is all you can imagine and more.

The big moment finally arrived and Ashley and Grant were wed at Sunset Cove overlooking the clear blue waters of the Gulf  Of Mexico on Saturday, January 2, 2010. The reception followed under a gorgeous tent on Kings Crown lawn.  Take a look at the picture of inside the tent below.  SO PRETTY ! We worked along side with Tonya Malay and her assistant Emma - who surely captured some great photographs.

Our bride and groom departed for the evening with a sparkler exit and jumped back onto the Blue Lady to sail off into the night.  This entire event was  well planned by Kelly McWilliams and her  terrific staff at Weddings By Socialites.

Tonight Rob and I were at our last wedding of the year, and right before the ceremony a woman approached us all excited to tell us that her daughter was getting married there next November.  She started telling us  all the wonderful  details and then she told us that she really wanted videography of the day, but her daughter was hesitant.   When we asked her why, she said that her daughter was afraid the videographers would be running around and very obtrusive.  I hear this all the time.  I told her, that a good videographer is never noticed.  I don’t know if we convinced her but when I came home I read this email from our 12/26 bride’s mother:

“I have to say, the videography was seamless.  I never saw you guys………amazing.  I

had to ask if you were there!

It was an amazing night.  Thank you,

BARB”

I get this email all the time.   We are often asked by our brides if we were even at the ceremony because they never saw us there !  I love it. This means we are doing a good job.  We don’t want to be noticed.  And apparently we are successful!

Okay, so I said I would blog about every wedding we shot in 2009 and I really did !  I can not say I will do the same for 2010.   We will wait and see.   I am really excited because we are going to be launching a new website very soon, we have new packages  and pricing for 2010 and we have are ready for another exciting year.  Thank you all of our brides and grooms for putting your trust in AMC VIDEO.  Happy New Year!

The much anticipated wedding of Clint and Lauren finally arrived!  Naturally, we have been looking forward to this weekend for a long time - good friends in a beautiful city, what more can one ask for at a wedding?

On Saturday  November 7, 2009  Clint and Lauren wed in a gorgeous little chapel in Savannah, Georgia - one of our most FAVORITE cites!

Pictured on the left, you can see the famous Gastonian Inn that Clint and Lauren stayed in after their wedding. Everywhere you look in downtown Savannah look likes this picture - absolutely beautiful and rich with history!

Before the wedding, we started with Lauren and Clint (separately) at Wormsloe Historic Park.  This is a long road lined with large oak trees and Spanish moss - a truly breathtaking site for video and one of the locations where the movie Forest Gump was filmed.

The ceremony was at the Bethesda Home for Boys in the Whitfield Chapel and the reception was held at Savannah Yacht Club.

Michelle Reed Photography was there to capture every moment and her pictures from this trip are stunning - be sure to check out her blog!  Obviously you can see that Clint and Lauren are perfectly natural in front of the cameras!

Kelly McWilliams, of  Weddings By Socialites coordinated the day for our bride and groom and made sure that things ran perfectly.  The reception band, Mr.  Potato Head, rocked the crowd along with a few outrageous sets performed by Clint’s band,  None Other.

The highlight of the evening for us was when Clint and Lauren sang the duet “Lucky” by  Jason Mraz and  Colbie Caillat.   Naturally, seeing a bride and groom sing to each other (and sound awesome) is a first for us - in other words, how often do you have a rock star marry a Disney superstar?

Overall, we all had a fantastic time in historic Savannah.  We stayed in adorable place downtown called the Armstrong Inn which was on Chatham Square.  Coincidentally, Robert Redford was filming the movie “The Conspirator” right outside our door in the square.  How cool is that?

The Sunday following the wedding, Clint, Lauren, Michelle, and Rob spent some time touring  other locations for fantastic post wedding pictures and video - spots including Forsyth Park, the river, a Theater, and many more!

In between the hustle and bustle of the wedding and additional photo/video shoots, AMC enjoyed great meals at The Olde Pink House, The Gryphon Tea Room (another favorite) and Lady And Sons; and even ventured out to Tybee Island.  Rob, Anna, Kelly Mcwilliam’s Husband, and his children, all went for a climb in the Lighthouse (which we recently saw again  in the  preview for Miley  Cyrus’s new movie).

What a fantastic fun filled weekend to say the least!

Congratulations and thanks to our friends Clint and Lauren - We wish you MANY years of happiness and thank you for including us in your special wedding weekend!

Things I love about weddings….Photo Booths are so much fun!  Guests love them, and we even get in from time to time.  In these pictures  Rob, Lee and Matias are striking a pose.   You can see that they can not resist the allure of the photo booth.  Are you getting a photo booth for your wedding?  If so, it is sure to be a big hit.  Guests take home a fun picture and you keep a copy of all pictures for your own photo album!

Brian and Roshanie, congratulations on your wedding. It was a gorgeous day!

Now watching: Patricia and Steve - La Venezia

Patricia and Steve had a great wedding and planned it all the way from Hyannis Massachusetts.  On Sunday November 22, 2009 we met Patricia and Steve at St Katherine Of Drexel Catholic Church in Cape Coral, Florida.   Patricia beamed as she walked down the aisle to meet Steve.  You can see they are truly in love.  In fact, on our wedding worksheet, Patricia wrote down her wedding  theme was “love”, and it sure was obvious to all.  We were joined by Jayne Schulte- Marso Photography and her team and they were a real pleasure to work with.  After some picture time, we headed over to La Venezia Ballroom in Cape Coral for our reception.    Z Bop Unlimited was there to entertain us - Jamie and Vinnie are certainly a unique DJ company.  Patricia and Steve were such a happy bride and groom and we were really glad we were there to capture their special day.  Congratulations to our newest couple!

Lee and Steven  started off with Felicia and Juan as they were about to do a first sighting before the ceremony.  Felicia looked spectacular and Juan was  truly wowed!  The picture below is of Felicia’s shoes.  I have been seeing colored shoes for awhile now, and I must say I love it.  After some picture / video time our couple headed down to Bodwitch Point Park on Fort Myers Beach for their ceremony.  We were joined by Krista from Impressions Photography.  After the beach ceremony, our couple did some more picture time - and then headed over to Rum Runners in Cape Coral for their reception where their 70 guests awaited their arrival.   Rum Runners is one of my favorite spots, I often go there for a great meal, and it is only 5 minutes from my house!  Muffy from Libby’s Flowers took care of  the flower arrangements and they looked awesome.

At the end of  the evening we had another very happy bride and groom.  Congratulations to Felicia and Juan! Thank you Krista for this gorgeous picture of Felicia and her pretty shoes!  To see more of Krista’s work check out her blog and website!

Now watching: Susan and Joseph - Naples Beach Hotel

On Saturday November 21, 2009 , Susan and Joseph were married.  It was a perfect day!  Their ceremony was at the beautiful United Church of Christ located in Naples.  We do not get the opportunity to film in many churches, we are mostly on the beach.   This is one church I really look forward to shooting at. After their ceremony, guests went on to enjoy cocktail hour on the  lawn at the Naples Beach Hotel And Golf Club.    We were joined by Tonya Malay Photography and her assistant Emma who are always a pleasure to work with.  We also worked with Scott and Tina Dean of A Sound Choice Entertainment.  Tina keeps a blog, so you might want to check it out.  Sue and Joe had a big wedding of about 200 guests.  The dance floor was packed most of the evening and a good time was had by all.  Congratulations to our newest married couple!  Well done!

Now watching: Carrie and Manuel - Ritz Carlton, Naples

cake-at-ritzCarrie and Manuel are married!  The big day happened on Friday, November 20th, 2009 at The Ritz Carlton Beach Resort.  Carrie planned a destination wedding all the way from Minnesota and did a wonderful job!  Carrie and Manuel had about 90 guests join them to witness their I -do’s  as pastor John Crosby presided over their intimate beach ceremony.  We were joined by Tonya Malay Photography and her team to capture the day.   The reception was held in the Vanderbilt Ballroom and the Band  Private Stock kept things going all night long.   Congratulations to Carrie and Manuel!

As as side note, it was Robs 40th Birthday!  I knew when we booked Carrie’s wedding we would have to figure out away to celebrate Rob’s birthday after the wedding.  And what better place then the Ritz Carlton!   So we  surprised him and when he walked out of his wedding at the end of the evening, there we were! We headed down to the Sushi Bar at the Ritz  and lucky for us DJ Chris Ceron was playing.  We had an awesome night and we danced for hours.    A great time was had by all.  Thank you Chris for an awesome evening.  Thanks also to our friends and staff who showed up to surprise Rob on THE BIG 40 !!

Now watching: John and Lisa - Ritz Carlton, Naples

John and Lisa were married on Saturday November 14, 2009 at St. Leo Catholic Church.  Rob and his team left early in the morning for the 12:30 ceremony start time.    After a beautiful Catholic Mass, John and Lisa headed to the gorgeous grounds of Mediterra for a photo/video shoot with Michelle Reed Photography.  We had plenty of time in between the ceremony and the reception ( three and a half hours)  so were able to capture some amazing footage.  We do enjoy weddings with a gap in between ceremony and receptions because we really get the chance to be creative.   Mediterra has wonderful video opportunities.  Later, we headed over to the Ritz Carlton to join the guests for cocktail hour on the Vanderbilt Courtyard Terrace and some more picture/ video time.    After a first dance, toasts and dinner our bride and groom were ready to enjoy their entertainment,  the Brett Foreman Band.  The flowers and decor were done by West Coast Designs.   John and Lisa came all the way from New Jersey to have  the perfect destination wedding.  It was a perfect evening.  Congratulations to John and Lisa!  Click here to see a quick ceremony clip!

Another first for AMC.  This is why we love what we do!

A double wedding with 2 brides and 2 grooms.  How exciting! On November 7, 2009  Cyra and Oscar were married at the same time as  Darius and Jamie.

The big event happened at South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island. About 175 Guest were trollied down to Sunset Cove to watch the traditional double Indian ceremony.  2 priests, 2 brides, 2 grooms, 2 sets of parents, 2 best mans, 2 made of honors….Wow!

After the ceremony guests enjoyed cocktail hour while our newly married couples took pictures and video  with  Doreen Kline Photography and her team.  The party continued on with  DJ Jeff Key entertaining  us with his talented  skills!  As you probably guessed, we had two Father-Daughter Dances, two  Mother- Son Dances.  Just double the fun!   The crowd danced and danced and a good time was had by all!  Doreen Kline was nice enough to send us these cool Henna hand photos of our beautiful brides.    To see more of Doreen’s work visit her blog!

Thank you Doreen and Congratulations to our BRIDES AND GROOMS !

Now watching: Ingrid and Kevin - LaPlaya Beach Resort

dsc_0232dsc_02341Ingrid and Kevin were married on Sunday November 8th, 2009 at LaPlaya Beach and Golf Resort.  They had the perfect beach wedding.

Their ceremony took place on the gulf lawn overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.   Ingrid’s Uncle officiated their ceremony which concluded with the release of white doves.  AMC worked with Astrid and Rene Photography for the first time,  and we are can’t wait to see their photos of our lovely bride and groom.  The reception was held in the Bayside Ballroom which looked beautiful.  Floral arrangements  were done by the Garden District and the cake was made by Ella’s Cakes.   This cake is beautiful!  It looks to perfect to be real.  Each of the shells are real chocolate.   Yum!  The band, Private Stock, kept our crowd entertained through out the evening and things were perfect for our newlyweds.

Ingrid and Kevin had a photo booth too, something we see more and more of at weddings.  This is always so much fun and we got some great footage of guests having a wild time in there.   Even my videographers, Lee and Matias had to jump in and take a picture!  Congratulations Ingrid and Kevin on your wonderful wedding!

Now watching: Lisa and Joe - Sundial Beach Resort (video)

Lisa and Joe were married on April 25th, 2009. at the Sundial Beach and Golf Resort.  Many times I am asked why we would want to video the photographer, in this case it was Jason Angelini,  taking pictures on the beach.   Isn’t that what pictures are for?  Well, here is the reason why.  This is probably the romantic time our brides and grooms get to spend together alone without their guests and we want to be able to capture that moment.   Lisa and Joe, I hope you enjoy this clip!  To read more about their wonderful wedding in our blog click  here.

Now watching: Erin and Michael - Ritz, Naples (video)

Erin and Michael had a great wedding at the Ritz Carlton Beach Resort in Naples.  This is my favorite clip from their wedding day.  Rob was shooting with Michelle Reed Photography.   The ceremony took place at Saint Agnes Catholic Church.  You can see Erin and Michael are so in LOVE!

Now watching: Nicole and Neil - Miromar Lakes, Estero (video)

YEAH!  At last we have Nicole and Neils wedding video ready!  This is  Nicole and Neil’s Directors Cut.  The gorgeous  photos were taken by Cher Hanna Photography.  I love the mix of photos and video together.  This was all Nicole’s idea.   Nicole and Neil picked a great song, “When I See You Smile”  - it goes perfectly.  Nicole has  such a beautiful smile.  My favorite clip is when the rose petals  blow on them with the wind after the ceremony.  It was a VERY windy day.  We have gotten to know Nicole and Neil during the last year and we have to say watching this clip is so exciting for us too!  To read more about their big day, click here to go to our blog.

Nicole and Neil - Miromar Lakes, Florida wedding

faceLet me tell you all about the wedding of Neil and Nicole…They had a fabulous wedding on March 21st, 2009 at Miromar Lakes.  I don’t even know where to begin! Rob and Matias  started with Nicole at the Coconut Hyatt in Estero and met Cher Hanna to do some getting ready shots of our beautiful bride. Then we went on to Miromar Lakes where the ceremony took place, set on the beach adjacent to their reception area.

If you have not seen it yet, we did a video for Nicole and Neil as they took engagement pictures with Cher. This was played during the cocktail hour for all the guests to enjoy.

Kelly McWilliams of Weddings By Socialites was there to make sure that everything was PERFECT for this event.

DJ Ron Rutz played for the crowd into the wee hours of the evening.  I have to say, this crowd had a fantastic night!

Congratulations Nicole and Neil - we were thrilled to be part of this grand wedding!

Now watching: Amazing AMC Weddings in Naples, Florida

I truly believe we are so lucky to do what we do!  We witness the most wonderful weddings every single weekend.  We have the best brides and grooms too and the following share a few details of one of the most amazing for AMC Video weddings to date…

It is hard to know where to even start with this 3 day event!  Our customers (who asked to remain anonymous) planned the most fantastic wedding celebration weekend for their guests that I am sure everyone will be talking about it for years and years to come.  They spared no expense to make sure their guests were wowed!

We began our weekend on Friday morning  October 23rd  at SouthWest Regional airport as we filmed the private jet landing of the bride and groom’s guests.  We weren’t quite on the runway, but we close enough to see the bride and groom handing out a white rose to each guest as they exited the plane.  I have to admit I was excited about this, as it is something we don’t get to do often.

Guests then boarded a charted bus and headed for lunch at the Ritz-Carlton.   Along the way, they stopped to  pick up a hitchhiker, carrying a NAPLES sign!  He was a national entertainer, known as the Harp Guitar Guy, Andy Wahlberg.  At this point, our guests knew they were in store for an amazing weekend as Andy entertained the guests on route to Naples.

After lunch at the Ritz, guests later moved to the Bay Colony Gulf Club for the rehearsal dinner where another surprise awaited - the Kingston Trio!   There are too many highlights to mention, but I am sure at this point, guests were too excited to sleep wondering what the next day had in store for everybody!

Finally the wedding day arrived where guests enjoyed a private ceremony at the bride and groom’s home, followed by a trip to the Gray Oaks Country Club in Naples for the reception.  The first entertainment performance was done by an act called The Three Waiters.  This is really different (especially since they mingled with the actual wait staff serving the guests food), so you may want to check out the link to see more details on this unique and fantastic show.

After diner, guests moved to another room for a montage prepared by AMC Video, followed by the cake cutting ceremony. Meanwhile, the main room was redressed into a night club style decor.  As guests made their way back into the main room for the main show of the evening, they had no idea of what was to come since this was kept ultra secret from all - even from us until that evening!  Not to be let down in anyway, the curtains opened to the surprise of everybody, featuring none other than THE Dionne Warwick! She was truly phenomenal, a class act and sang many favorites, just a few feet away from the bride and groom and their wowed guests!  What an evening to say the least!

Rob, and his team of 4 videographers that day (didn’t want to miss a thing)  enjoyed every bit of the performance as well as Michelle Reed Photography who was there to photograph this three day affair.  I was not there, since I was at other weddings, but I have all ready peeked  through most of  the footage and I have to say this bride and groom really know how to throw a party!

Naturally, to protect their privacy and satisfy the various legal requirements of working this event, we are unable able to post any pictures or video clipsbut nonetheless, it was a truly phenominal Naples Florida wedding to attend.

Now watching: Ellen and Jason - Plantation Golf and Country Club

Ellen and JasonEllen and Jason were married on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Gulf  Coast Church of Christ in Fort Myers, Florida.  The church was packed with about 150 guests as Jason and Ellen said their I-do’s.  After a beautiful ceremony our newest couple headed to Plantation Golf and Country Club.  This is our first time at this country club and we were thrilled to be there.   Todd Blanton, Food and Beverage Director of the Plantation runs the show and he is fantastic to work with.   The newlyweds took sunset pictures and video out on the golf course and Rob worked with Alfred Gordon Photography out of Sarasota for the first time.   Ellen had a long long veil and with the breeze blowing out on the golf course it makes for really nice video.   The grooms cake was a redfish fin, so one can assume that Jason is a big fisherman.  The band Certified played for the crowd  and Ellen and Jason had a great evening!  Congratulations !!

Now watching: Michele and Beau - LaPlaya Beach Resort

AMC video had a great weekend!  One of the most fantastic weddings I have been to was Michele and Beau’s.  It was the best time for everyone, including us!  I will fill you in on all the details.  Lee, Jaron and I headed bright and early down to St. Leo The Great Catholic Church for a noon ceremony on Saturday October, 24, 2009.  After the traditional Catholic Mass by Father Luis, our newlyweds exit through the bubbles and  jumped into a 76  Eldorado  Cadillac  convertible for a staged getaway.  Back to the church we did a few pictures at the alter and then we were ready for fun.  Our bride, groom and  bridal party boarded a trolley along with Michelle Reed Photography  and her team and our videographers and we headed to  downtown Naples  for some picture/video  time.  It is great when the bride give us several hours for this because we can really get some creative shots!  It also is great when our brides and grooms enjoy the picture/video time - because it really shows in the finished product.   Michele and Beau had a great time downtown, can’t wait to get started on their wedding video!   Kathy Resop of  Side by Side weddings helped Michele plan a day that most brides only dream of.  On to LaPlaya Beach Resort for the reception - where Brett Foreman and his band finished the night up for our bride and groom.  Michele and Beau had a great website for their friends and family since this was a destination wedding.  It was www.micheleandBeau2009.com if you want to check out how its all suppose to be done.  Michele and Beau, well done and congratulations on your amazing destination wedding!

PS  Thanks Michele and Beau for the Chicago Pizzas!  What a great surprise!  You really shouldn’t have!   It came today and it is tonight’s dinner.   I am sure  it is WONDERFUL.  Thanks again!  AnnMarie & Rob

Now watching: Sarah and Ben - Ritz Carlton Beach Resort

Sarah and Ben were married at sunset under the chuppah facing the warm waters of the  Gulf  Of  Mexico on Saturday October 24, 2009 at the Ritz Carlton Beach Resort in Naples Florida.   We joined our bride and groom as they were getting ready to sign the Ketubah at the Ritz  Beach House.  240 guests (all from out of the area)  were greeted with champagne and flip- flops as they made their way to the ceremony sight on the beach.  The ceremony was beautiful  and after a cocktail hour in the Vanderbilt Courtyard our newlyweds were introduced into the Vanderbilt Ballroom.  After a first dance and the always so fun  Hora,  Clint Wiley and his 9 piece band None Other kept the dance floor packed the entire evening.  Nicola from the Ritz Carlton oversaw this destination  event and in true Ritz style the night was simply elegant.  Mazel Tov Sarah and Ben!

Now watching: Susie & Charles - Marco Island Marriott Resort

Another Monday destination wedding!  This time our lovely bride and groom came all the way from Missouri to the spectacular Marco Island!  And what better place for a wedding then the Marco Island Marriott Resort and Spa.

Susie and Charlie were married on Monday, October 19, 2009.  Rob and Steven reported back that the weather was absolutely perfect! I just love the fall weather in Florida.  What better way to spend a Monday night then at a wedding!

The ceremony took place on the beach near the tiki hut.  After the ceremony, while guests enjoyed the cocktail hour on the beach, our bride and groom took sunset photos with Tonya Malay and her assistant Emma.  Susie and Charlie had a great time taking pictures and really enjoyed the photo/video session.  After an introduction,  first dance and some toasts our newlyweds sat down for a delicious meal.  Dominick from Mobile Sound Entertainment was the master of ceremony and the crowd of about 60 people danced the night away.  Congratulations Susie and Charlie!

Now watching: Meagan & Paul- Casa Ybel, Sanibel Island

img_3950v1img_3961v2

It’s all about the details! Meagan and Paul were married on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at the Casa Ybel Resort.  Casa Ybel just recently became members of  Style Me Pretty, which is a pretty big deal and much deserved.   Matias, Steven and I headed to Sanibel Island super excited because  the day could not have been any more gorgeous then it was.  The heat is finally gone!  The bride and groom were married on the beach by Paul’s Uncle Edward.   Meagan looked stunning.  On each chair there was a program and a shell with Meg and Paul written on it.  After the ceremony which concluded with a shell toss, we were ready for our photo/video shoot.  We were joined by Jesse Netsch who was the photographer.  Guests enjoyed cocktail hour while our bride and groom watched the sunset.  The reception took place upstairs in the Thistle Lodge where Jennifer Dube made sure that things were perfect for our newlyweds.  DJ  Ron Rutz entertained the crowd of about 60.  Meagan is extremely detailed and it really showed.  From the wishing tree to the sand dollars and starfish, it was well planned out.  Meagan’s flowers were simply beautiful, done by Sue Bain of  Signature Florals. The cake was done by Masons Bakery who has been around for as long as I can remember.  They actually did our wedding cake back in 1998 and it was delicious!  Meagan and Paul did something I thought was a really great idea.  At the end of the evening, they had all guests wait outside and had a private last dance to be captured by video and photography.  It was such a romantic moment,  I can tell our new couple are so in love.  I love the idea, a last Dance!   Guests awaited with sparklers outside and the newlyweds jumped into a golf cart and away they went.  Meagan and Paul, your wedding was truly wonderful and we thank you for allowing us to capture this special day in your lives!

Now watching: Nicole & Timothy - The Club at Mediterra

Nicole and Tim had a beautiful wedding on Saturday October 17, 2009.    Rob, Matias and Steven headed down to Naples and started with our bride and groom at Saint William Catholic Church.    We were joined by Heather Donlan Photography who was photographing the event.  After a traditional 2:30 Catholic  ceremony we went on to The Club at Mediterra for our photo/video shoot.  The grounds on Mediterra are some of my favorite.  It is one of the most beautiful and unique  locations for photos and video in the Naples area.  The party then continued on at Mediterra.  Pam from Bon Soiree planned this event from start to finish  and made sure that everything went perfectly for our newlyweds.  The 10 piece band,  Soul Survivors entertained the crowd and if you have not had an opportunity to hear a 1o piece band  at a wedding you are missing out!  It is fantastic.    Having spent the  day with our bride and groom we can honestly say that there wedding was just perfect.  Congratulations Nicole and Tim!

Now watching: Claudia and Scott - Naples Grande Resort (romance video)

Now watching: Claudia and Scott - Naples Grande Resort (video)

Claudia and Scott had a great wedding at the Naples Grande Beach Resort.  This is the start of their video, when they are taking some pictures before their ceremony and doing a first sighting.  For those of you who don’t know, a first sighting is a planned meeting before the ceremony where the bride and groom see each other for the first time.  This is  a very romantic moment that we enjoy taking part in.  We had a great time with Claudia and Scott.  Their wedding was fantastic!

So, here is a quick clip from Claudia and Scott’s wedding video - enjoy!

Michelle was a happy bride. She was bouncing up and down with happiness and joy all day and night!

Michelle and Shaun were married on Saturday October 10, 2009. Matias, Steven and I drove down and met her bride and groom at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Naples, Florida. This is such a beautiful church. After the full mass ceremony the bride and groom exited the church as their guests blew bubbles and jumped into a white antique car. Tonya Malay and Emma took the newlyweds to downtown Naples for some fun shots. This is our favorite thing to video! I will certainly put this on our website when it is complete. We all had a great time! So, after a few hours of trying out all kinds of cool places to shoot we headed down to The Marco Ocean Beach Resort on Marco Island.

Michelle and Shuan had an AWESOME wedding. Guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the patio and watched as the sun set, while the bride and groom took more beach pictures and video with Tonya and her team. Michelle left no stone unturned. She had a photo booth, which her guests enjoyed all night long. This is usually a big hit at weddings.  She had an ice sculpture.  She had an ice cream sundae station, with homemade ice cream. YUM! The cake was made by the WOW Factor. It was gorgeous and the engraved axe next to it was used to cut the cake. Shaun is a fireman so the axe and ice sculpture had the fireman emblem.  Tropical flowers were provided by the Garden District.   She also had Clint Wiley and his band None Other to entertain the crowd of about 70 guests! You all know how much I love listening to Clint and his band. Need I say more? A perfect day for our happy bride and groom.

Congratulations! Well done !

Now watching: Tiffany and Ken - Sanibel Harbour Resort

Tiffany and Ken were married on Saturday October 10, 2009 at Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa.    Lee and Jaron joined our bride in her room before the ceremony as she did her last minute touch ups and snapped some photos with Tiffany from Impresssions Photography.  The ceremony took place on Cove Beach with Dr. Dan Lamey officiating over the intimate ceremony for about 40 guests.  Kristin Lawrence was on hand making sure that things were perfect for our bride and groom as she always does.  She is such an asset for Sanibel Harbour Resort.  After a photo video shoot on the beach, our bride and groom were introduced into the island room which is one of my favorite rooms to shoot in.  This room has a beautiful view, many of our family weddings were here - my sister-in-law and cousin had their reception in here.  Good times!  The cake was made by Pubix.  I like the initials on this cake.  It adds such a nice personal touch.  Mike Cole from Black-Tie Entertainment provided entertainment for the party and he is a master at what he does!  Congratulations to our newest married couple.

Now watching: Christina and Mark - Royal Poinciana Golf Club, Naples

christina01v2

Christina and Mark were wed on Saturday October 10, 2009.   Rob and Anthony started at the bride’s parents home in Port Royal, Naples where the bride and her bridesmaids were taking pictures with Michelle Reed Photography.  Christina is very animated and enjoyed having her photo taken while also playing for her video.   Christina and Mark had a big bridal party of no less than twenty -  9 bridesmaids, 9 groomsmen and 2 ushers!

After some fun shots of Christina and a champagne toast with the girls, everybody headed to the ceremony in a large limo bus at Moorings Presbyterian Church in Naples.  Guests filled in the church along with the many groomsmen and bridesmaids, anticipating the bride’s arrival down the aisle. Soon enough, Christina floated down the aisle on her dad’s arm to beaming as she greeted her new husband.  Following traditional vows and the lighting of the unity candle,  the ceremony concluded.   The guests headed to the prestigious  Royal Poinciana Golf Club for cocktails and treats while MRP and AMC spent time with the bride and groom on the golf course taking their romance shots.

Rob said it was the perfect place for a black tie event - later Christina’s dad announced that we could all take off our sport jackets to cool off a bit and relax in the grand banquet room of the club.

We also enjoyed working with Scott and Tina Dean of A Sound Choice Entertainment. Let’s just say that the dance floor was packed all night long as Scott really had the crowd dancing hard  all night long!

Congratulations Christina and Mark -Your wedding  day was spectacular!  We were happy to take part in it!

melanie2Melanie and Greg were married on the North Beach at the Marco Island Marriott on Sunday, October 4th, 2009.   It was a perfect day for a wedding.  Melanie and Greg came all the way from Evansville, Indiana to tie the knot on Marco Island.   Rob and Matias were joined by Michelle Reed and her team who photographed this event.  We love shooting with Michelle and at the Marco Island Marriott Resort.  Every where you look there is something beautiful to capture.  Confession - We also enjoy staying as guests here too, when we need a little  R&R !    The resort is one of our favorites.  Jacey Wood is fantastic to work with as she oversees the weddings making sure that things are perfect for her newlyweds.  After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails on the beach while the bride and groom were taking their sunset photos.  After romance shots were complete, the guests lined up with long and short sparklers and the bride and groom ran through!  This makes for some great video!   Melanie and Greg have chosen a high definition package so this for sure will be in our  HD gallery.  Dominick from Mobile Sound Entertainment was the DJ and the bride and groom danced all evening under the stars of the Florida skies with a full moon overhead.  Congratulations to Melanie and Greg!  You planned the perfect wedding all the way from Indiana!  Well done!  A special thank you to Michelle Reed who sent us this beautiful bridal potrait of Melanie.  I love it!

A Monday Wedding?  Yes, a Monday wedding.  Actually, we have 2 Monday weddings this month.  It is not uncommon in South West Florida for weekday weddings  since to most of the world this is paradise! And the Saturdays get taken rather quickly.   So, if all your guests are coming in from Ohio, it doesn’t matter what day it is, does it?   Katie and Nick were married on MONDAY, October 5th, 2009 at South Seas Island Resort.  Dr. Dan Lamey performed the intimate beach ceremony for about 36 guests.   The ceremony was at the waters edge overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.  The guests were served refreshing glasses of  Lemonade as they arrived by trolley to the beach.   Andrea, who we all know from Weddings By Socialites is now at South Seas and she did  marvelous job overseeing this destination wedding.  After the ceremony all the guests got together for a group picture.  Rob, Lee and Steven were joined by Tiffany who is with Impressions Photography.    After introductions, a first dance and many toasts, guests sat down to a wonderful meal.  Katie and Nick’s cake was made by Masons Bakery.  Another beautiful Captiva wedding, Congratulations to our happy bride and groom!

Natalie and Chad picked a perfect day to get married in South West Florida!  The skies were blue and the humidity is definitely lower.   Natalie and Chad tied the knot on Sunday, October 4th, 2009.  Lee and I headed to Sanibel Island for the ceremony and reception which took place at the  Sundial  Beach and Golf Resort.  Pastor Thomas Funk performed the intimate beach ceremony.  We were joined by Aimee of Michelle Reed Photography. We enjoy working with Aimee, she is such a talented photographer.   Floral Artistry did a great job with the flowers, as they were beautiful.  I love Natalie’s dress - it was very pretty and so unique!  It looked perfect on her!

Natalie and Chad live in Oklahoma City and are having a big party back home, so we are getting started on their video right away so they may share it with family and friends that were unable to travel to Sanibel Island.  Best of luck to Natalie and Chad!  Your day was perfect in every way!

These are some photos that Aimee was nice of enough to send me!  Thanks Aimee!

Now watching: Amanda and Mike - Grandezza Country Club

What a great wedding!  Amanda and Mike were married on Saturday October 3, 2009.  Their ceremony was at  Saint  Andrew’s  Catholic Church.  This church is special to us since Rob and I were married there back in 1998.  It is such a beautiful church!

After the ceremony we headed over to Grandezza County Club.  The Club at Grandezza is located in Estero and is one of my favorite places to shoot.  Not only is everything gorgeous, but Sean Hynes and his staff are exceptional.   He really goes above and beyond for his clients.  We were joined by Maria from Butterfly Kisses  Photography who was a pleasure to work with.

I loved Amanda and Mike’s cake as well as  the groom’s  Florida GATOR cake which was way cool.  Here are some of  my favorite shots that  we captured.  Matias,  Steven and I had a great time at this wedding!  Congratulations to Amanda and Mike.  Your wedding was wonderful.  I am so glad we were there to capture it!

Now watching: Fall is coming, my favorite time of the year.

So much to share as we head into our busy fall season.  We are quite excited about many things!  We have a packed October with some pretty amazing weddings.   Can’t wait to tell you about our October 23 - 25 weekend.  We have celebrity entertainment  coming in for this one! We start with the private jet landing and end with four national entertainment acts!  In November we are heading to Savannah to capture  Clint Wiley’s Wedding.   You may know Clint and his band,  None Other.  They are fantastic.  Rob and his team  have spent the last 2 days filming his new band demo which is sure to be awesome.  We spent two days in downtown  Savannah this summer and I just love it.  We had a great time at the  WEVA  convention and we have invested in some pretty high tech equipment which you will see more of very soon.  And finally, be sure to check out our friend Michelle Reed’s  Blog.  She has some amazing photos of our daughter Anna!  She will be with us photographing Clint Wiley’s wedding which I will certainly fill you in on!

Now watching: Johanne and David - Old Cypress Country Club

Johanne and David were married on Sunday, September 20, 2009.  Lee, Matias and I  started with Johanne while she was having her hair and make-up done at the Inn at Pelican Bay in Naples.  We were joined by Sam Brockinton and his assitant who was on the scene to photograph our beautiful bride.  We then went onto the ceremony which was at the Fort Myers Seventh Day Adventist Church.  The wedding theme was peacock feathers- and there was even  Peacock feathers on the the  program which I learned symbolizes purity, loyalty and Integrity.  The ceremony was certainly musical.  Seaside Strings played the flute, viola, violin and cello to start  followed by a pianist, organist and even an amazing vocalist.  You can see the crowd of 150 guests were really enjoying themselves.   After the ceremony our newlyweds jumped into a vintage car to head down south to Old Cypress County Club in Naples, Florida.  Old Cypress is a gorgeous country club.  It was our first time there, and we really enjoyed it.  Mike Cole from Black-Tie Entertainment kept the crowd dancing all night long.    The night was filled with great music and  joy and there was even a surprise Mariachi Band,  who were top notch!  Congratulations to Johanne and David.  Your wedding was simply beautiful.

Now watching: Tracy and Thomas - the Marco Island Marriott

I just love a military wedding!  The uniforms are always so impressive and it is great to see our hard working military men have a good time.  We all know they deserve it.  Tracy and Thomas were married on Saturday, September 19th, 2009 at the Marco Island Marriott Resort and Spa.  Thomas is a Marine.  The bride and groom came all the way from Virginia to get married on the beautiful beach at the Marco Island Marriott Resort.  Even though it rained lightly, the ceremony happened right where they had planned! I am so glad for them.  Once again, we had the pleasure of working with Juile Goodacre Photography.  Dominick from Mobile  Sound Entertainment kept the crowd of about 100 people entertained all through the evening.  As at military weddings, the swords were out and our newlyweds even cut their amazing cake with a sword.  When I say amazing, I do mean amazing.  The cake was HUGE.  Jacey was there to make sure things went perfectly, and another beautiful wedding took place on Marco Island.  I am glad we were there to capture it.

Okay, I know, I am the mom, so naturally I am going to think that my baby’s pictures are just beautiful.  What mom doesn’t?

I just have to share these pictures!  They are not the usual pictures I would have taken of Anna.  Normally, I like putting her in a pink or purple dress, with a bracelet and matching necklace for pictures.

Michelle Reed had a different vision.  She asked if I could just pack a bag for Anna with some normal, plain,  denim clothes, hats and a scarf?  Huh, what is she thinking?  I reluctantly  agree, thinking where is my pretty dress picture?  I am all about the pretty pictures!

So, here are some of my favorites.  I just love them.    Anna is thrilled because they are also on Michelle Reed’s website in the galleries section under portraits.  She now thinks she is famous!  She made the website!

The first one is my personal favorite.   Anna’s favorite is the last one with the crazy socks!

She can’t wait for her next  “fashion shoot”.

Thank you Michelle Reed Photography.

Julie and Joseph were married at The Vineyards in Naples, Florida.   Congratulations Julie  and Joseph - here is a dancing clip from your wedding video!  It looks like great fun : )

Now watching: Chistina and Shaumond - Harborside Event Center, Fort Myers

Christina and Shaumond are in love.  This is  so obvious.  Lee and I were  thrilled to witness the union of these love birds on Saturday,  September 5, 2009 along with 332 guests.   Yeah, that’s right, 332 !  To say this was a large wedding, is an understatement.  The day started at Mt. Hermon Church in Fort Myers, Florida.    I was greeted by Erma Sams who is an event planner with Essence of Style.  She quickly told me where the groom was hanging out and where we could find our bride.  I counted 15 bridesmaids,  12 groomsman, 4 flower girls, 1 ring bearer, 2 ushers, and 1 bridal announcer !  Wow!  What does a bridal announcer do you ask?  Well, she holds a banner reading “here comes the bride”, walking down the aisle shouting “the bride is coming, the bride is coming” right before Christina walked down the aisle!  The bride wearing  teal pretty shoes was escorted by her father and godfather.  After a ceremony filled with 2 solos, and a broom jumping tradition - the bride and groom and the bridal party sang back down the aisle to “Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now“  and went onto the Reception at the Harborside Event Center in Fort Myers.  Photographing this event was Melvin Wilcox from Allgood Photography all the way from Jacksonville, Florida.  Melvin was a pleasure to work with.   As you can imagine, the reception was nothing but a good time.   Christina was in tears as she and her sorority sisters sang  the Delta Sweetheart Song and then followed that up with the Delta Stroll.    The evening ended with a sparkler exit and I can all ready tell you that this  bride and groom lived happily ever after!   Congratulations Christina and Shaumond.  I was so glad we were there to capture your special day.  I REALLY enjoyed your wedding!

Brett Foreman entertained us with his music and the night ended perfectly for South West Florida’s newest married couple!   Congratulations to Lindsey and Rob!  Love the cake!

Lisa and Joe met with us over a year ago.  They were the kind of couple that knew what they wanted and started planning their wedding well in advance.  Well, the big day finally happened on April 25th, 2009 and what a grand wedding it was.  The guests arrived at the Sundial Beach and Golf Resort on Sanibel Island for their welcome cocktail party.  What a great way to start the event!  The ceremony was on the beach as steel drums and a guitar soloist played for about 70 guests.  Reverend Daniel Hagmaier performed a beautiful ceremony.  Afterwards,  guests were treated to a second cocktail party!   Lisa and Joe are New Yorkers, and they really know how to do it BIG.  After the cocktail hour, guests were trollied over to Sanibel Harbour Resort for the reception.  Jason Angelini from Tampa was the photographer and Rob from Black Tie Entertainment was the DJ who kept this party rocking all night long.   Kelly McWilliams of Weddings by Socialites and her team were there to make sure things were perfect for the  bride and groom, and all really went PERFECT.  The cake was a delicious masterpiece by Kakes By Karen. The biggest event of the evening was the Nutella surprise put out in the separate “Sweet Escape” Room with all the desserts and candy for  guests to enjoy.  For me, this is like dying and going to heaven.  A separate dessert room?  What will they think of next?  Leave it to Kelly!  Thank you Jason for sending us these gorgeous photos.

Congratulations once again to our very happy bride and groom, Lisa and Joe.

Now watching: Bride to Be - Wedding Video Insight

Frequently we have brides, readers, or others that want to leave some thoughts behind for brides-to-be with topics ranging from useful advice about wedding videography to their experiences and insight in working with AMC video.

Although planning for video may be well covered in other forums, we wanted this to be an area just for our tight-knit group of readers, brides, and families to leave behind their insight and experiences that may be useful to others going through the process specific to wedding video.

Note: This is area is not to bash other companies, rather it’s to educate and to leave behind personal insight to help make future brides and grooms’ experience with wedding video a pleasurable and rewarding experience. Well this is our shortest post ever!  Now have fun posting some feedback….

Now watching: Brides - Get a Sample!

Our Most Important Advice to Brides:

When you consider a video company - ask to get a full-length finished sample of their work or meet them to see one in person.  You may not know much about “editing” or video techniques, but your eyes will tell you what you need to know since you have already been trained by the best from Hollywood - through movies and TV.   The most important thing to remember - good work takes time to complete!   If you haven’t seen a sample don’t book them and be careful of bait and switch techniques.

Here’s an example:

Company XYZ has a decent sample clip on their website and books a bride.  The bride assumes all is well - the price was great, coverage was plenty, and everything seems good until she receives her video … nothing is live in her video - not her vows, not the toasts, not her first dance. All the video has overlaid with music.  Why you ask? Well, most companies don’t want to edit all that live footage from multiple cameras - that’s lots of work!  So it’s easier to just wipe out the sound and overlay it with music!

We say again - get a sample similar to the package you are considering or meet your vendor to see one in person.  Ask questions about what the finished product looks like - this is really important so you know what to expect!

Good Consumer Advice - Comparison Shop!

Don’t rush and look around a bit.  Something that is cheap may not have the work invested in the back-end. Many companies offer tons of coverage the day of your wedding, at the expense of quality in your finished video.

Now watching: Melissa and Dylan - Romance Video

This is the Romance Video segment from the wedding of Melissa and Dylan at the Forest Country Club in Fort Myers, Florida.  I love the song Melissa choose for this part of the video. This piece includes clips from their photo video shoot at the Forest Country Club- we love love love the shots of our happy couple in the trees but noticed that Melissa likes to use her flowers to hit her husband : )  Could be a trend in the future Dylan, watch out! Clients ask us all the time why we would film the photography time after the ceremony. This is why.

This clip was made especially for Dylan who requested to use a favorite Elvis song in his wedding video!  So we did some spinning and decided to use it as Melissa and Dylan exited the church - a unique song for a unique moment! Melissa had a big surprise for her new husband! Does anyone know what happened to the hat?

Wedding of Melissa and Dylan

Our friends Melissa and Dylan came by recently to preview their wedding video and also brought a surprise bundle of joy!  We were so happy to spend a few minutes with the new family and visit while we watched some great segments from their wedding video.  Melissa and Dylan were married at St Andrew Catholic Church in Cape Coral Florida and held their reception at the Forest Country Club in Fort Myers, Florida.    Flowers were provided by Libby’s Flowers and she even has a link to a preview clip we did some time ago for Melissa and Dylan. The flowers were absolutely amazing.

Here are a few clips from their wedding video including the church exit (Melissa and Dylan’s favorite), the romance photo/video shoot (our favorite), and the final Directors Cut (expanded version of their earlier preview clip).

Now watching: Jennifer and Corey - Marco Island Marriottt

Another destination wedding in Southwest Florida!  Jennifer and Corey came all the way from Wisconsin and had their grand affair on Marco Island.   Jennifer and Corey planned this amazing event for about 200 guests all the way from Pewaukee, Wisconsin, and they did a terrific job at that.   We all know that planning a wedding from across the United States is no easy task.  However, Jennifer and Corey did a pretty good job!

Jennifer and Corey were married on Saturday, August 8th, 2009 at San Marco Catholic Church on the Beautiful Marco Island.  The ceremony was a full mass, and afterward, the bride and groom did pictures at the church and then at the beaches of the spectacular Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort where their reception was held.  Photography was done by Peter Pecci.

Jennifer and Corey had 3 videographers, Rob, Lee and Matias  filming their wedding- so we got plenty of great footage and they  also had an HD package, so it is sure to be awesome!   I can not wait to see their directors cut, and I am sure they are excited to see it too!  Stay tuned!

Now watching: Keri and Russell - the Marco Island Marriott

Keri and Russell came all the way from Texas to have a beach wedding at the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort on Sunday August 9th, 2009.  In the month of August, that could be a risk with the afternoon showers.  However, I am happy to report that the ceremony did happen on the white sandy beach and that made one happy bride and groom!  We were happy to work with Julie Goodacre Photography and Dominick from Mobile Sound Entertainment.  We had seen Dominick the night before at another wedding,  and he certainly rocked the house for both weddings!  The Marco Island Marriott is such an awesome spot for a wedding!  Check it out if you are looking for a great resort.  And to Keri and Russell, Thank you for allowing us to capture your special day!

Lindsey and Rob’s wedding took place at the Marco Island Marriott on May 15, 2009 - and what a spectacular wedding it was!

Below are a few pics and video - you can see the detail and care that Lindsey and her mom went through to make a special and unique event of the season for all family and friends to celebrate the wedding.

At many ceremony sites we often see a variety of arches and the Jewish chuppah, some simple and some very elaborate - but in this case, the 4 arches were not only beautiful, but were matched by flowing linens over the guest seats as well, providing some shade on the beach for over 200 guests! What a beautiful and unique setup…

Marking the end of a charming and intimate ceremony - we are pretty sure we saw the mom’s reaching for some tissues. Lindsey and Rob did a dove release which was followed by another release of a flock of doves! Naturally, those shots are best left for video - coming soon!

As the guests moved to the outside cocktail hour, our bride and groom enjoyed some time on the beach for their romance video and pictures and then prepared for their grand entrance to their reception.

Now the reception was another place that we could go on and on about how gorgeous and elegant the room was! Starting with the flower arrangements outside with butterflies overhead, leading inside to the the white linen covered walls, wrapped chairs, and the stunning centerpiece arrangement over the head table - every detail was well planned.

Accent lights lined the walls and were focused on table arrangements, the cake, and a scripted monogram spotlight accented the white diamond shaped dance floor! Honestly - this room looked nothing short of a true fairytale!

It’s definitely one the most amazing sights we have seen this year and we have to hand it to the other vendors in attendance including Dominick the DJ and of course, the fantastic staff of the Marriott, including Jacey Wood- the event manager at the Marco Island Marriott who is there to make sure every detail is completed to perfection!

Congratulations Lindsey and Rob - Here’s your HD Directors Cut to relive your wonderful wedding event:

Now watching: Michelle and Michael - LaPlaya, Naples

Michelle and Michael were married on the North Beach at LaPlaya Beach Resort on Sunday, July 26, 2009.  If it weren’t for Michelle’s good (and wise) friend Kelly, Michelle would not have a video!  This is how it happened.  I got a call from Kelly (not the bride) saying that her good friend was getting married and didn’t think she needed a video.  Kelly, knew better and decided she needed to step into action for her friend, having been married realized the importance of video!  She made the calls and found us.  She sent the information over to Michelle, who looked over the samples on the blog and then the next thing you know, Michelle is EXCITED about getting her big day captured on video!   Michelle’s wedding day was perfect.  No rain and breezy weather.  Michelle Reed Photography was with us and I am sure Michelle and Michael will have beautiful memories to look back on when they get home to Michigan.  Congratulations to our newest married couple and a very special thank you to Kelly for being a great friend!

Meredith and Michael came all the way from Massachusetts to get married at LaPlaya Beach Resort on Sunday July 19, 2009.  All though mother nature was not cooperative, the wedding was still beautiful and at the end of the evening we had a very happy bride and groom.  We started with Meredith and Michael as they signed their Ketubah which is a marriage contract in the Jewish religion.   Rabbi Bruce Diamond was there to perform the ceremony under the chuppah, he is one of our favorite Rabbis around!  The ceremony concluded with Michael breaking the glass and everyone shouting “Mazel Tov!”  The reception was held in LaPlaya’s private club overlooking the Gulf lawn.  Brett Foreman entertained the crowd as Heather Donlan Photography snapped photos!  Mazel Tov Meredith and Michael.

Things are happening over here at AMC Video.  We are happy to announce the two newest members of our team - Shannon as a Post Production Editor and Laura, Marketing and Sales Associate.

Shannon is currently working very closely with Rob and Christa in the studio every day.  We also want to welcome Laura, who is also working on her masters at FGCU and is assisting us with our marketing, web development (yes we are working on a new one)  and blog work.  I know I vowed last January to keep up with the blog, but it has not been easy and I need HELP!

We are so grateful to work with such talented individuals and we are looking forward to a great fall season with some amazing weddings! One in particular we are all looking forward to in October is going to be real exciting - a 3 day wedding extravaganza that will rival the David Tutera wedding from the spring.  Details are not in place yet nor are we privy to the national entertainment being brought in yet…but we will keep you posted asap!

Now watching: Piper and Jack - LaPlaya, Naples

Guests could hear the popping of fireworks in the distance at Piper and Jack’s 4th of July wedding on the beach at the La Playa Beach Resort in Naples, Florida.

The sunset ceremony took place under the traditional chuppah in front guests who had come all the way from Kansas to be a part of Piper and Jack’s special day.

Following the exchanging of the vows, guests made their way up to the Vanderbilt Ballroom, which was beautifully decorated with tea lights and centerpieces of white roses, white hibiscus, and white hydrangea by Betsy at La Playa.

Everyone danced the night away to the sounds of Paul Easton of Talent Ventures’ band, Renata, and the bride and groom shared one of their first kisses as man and wife on their chairs above the crowd, while guests below danced the Horah.

Congratulations Piper and Jack! What a great way to celebrate the birth of our nation.

Now watching: Daryl and Chip - Tween-Waters Inn, Captivia Island

Daryl and Chip tied the knot on Saturday July 18, 2009 at Tween-Waters Inn on beautiful Captiva Island.  Daryl and Chip and all of their 80 guests  came from St. Augustine, Florida to marry on the sandy beach of Captiva Island.  Guests gathered around as Nan from Romantic Island Weddings performed the ceremony.  Nick Adams, and his assistant Lee (my buddy) from Impact UK photography were there to capture the event with us.  Daryl and Chip were such a fun couple and the wedding was just as enjoyable.  I especially liked  the candy bar they had at their reception!  Such a nice touch!  Guests danced the night away in the Wakefield room upstairs and I can confidently say a great time was had by all including Lee and I.  Congratulations to Daryl and Chip.  You guys are awesome!  Yeah, no rain too!  A perfect evening!

Now watching: Nicole and Jared - Sanibel Harbour Resort

Congratulations to Nicole and Jared who were married at the Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa, on cove beach at 9:30 in the morning on June 27, 2009!  While most of our weddings are traditionally in the afternoon or evening this was a special treat since the beach is just perfect in the morning - a cool light Florida breeze kept the guests comfortable and the water sparkled as our Bride and Groom said their vows.  Nick Adams of Impact UK was the photographer- with Lee assisting and of course Sanibel Harbour’s master of all weddings Kristen Lawrence was on hand to help guide the morning events.   Rob and Matias said the morning was just perfect!

Following a fun ceremony and photos on the beach, our couple joined their guests aboard the Sanibel Island Princess for their early afternoon reception and cruise around the waters of San Carlos Bay.  Well done Nicole and Jared!

One of our most spectacular Naples Florida wedding video engagements this year was Julie and Steve’s wedding at the  Ritz Carlton.

Planned by the famous David Tutera from N.Y. (wedding show, My Fair Wedding) this event was amazing and breathtaking in every way.

Beginning in Julie’s room alongside Donna Newman Photography, we spent some time with our beautiful bride to shoot some pre-ceremony footage and to see her dress for the first time!  Let’s just say that dress and especially her veil was breathtaking and we knew instantly that her groom Steve would be overwhelmed with his gorgeous bride!

Soon after, we caught up with Steve in the hotel and escorted him to a location just outside the main ballroom- where he waited to see Julie for the first time before the ceremony.  As she turned the corner, his eyes lit up and from that moment on, he never stopped beaming!

This first sighting was exciting for us all, soon to be followed by a glimpse of extravagant ballroom!

Following some more photo and video opportunities under the marble columns, David Tutera personally showed Julie and Steve the finished ballroom before the big ceremony on the beach. This was another heart-stopping moment, as the doors opened to reveal the a truly magnificent yet intimate work of art.  We say ‘magnificent’ since the flowers and arrangements stretched from table to ceiling yet ‘intimate’ because of the warm glow of candles, natural colors and textures, and delicate flowers lining the long tables and chairs.

The lighting design of the ballroom also lent to the overall presence, as colored lights lit up the white fabric walls and changed slowly from blues to violets, to pinks, to reds.

AnnMarie often mentions the wedding cakes in the blog as well - so be sure to check out Julie and Steve’s cake (that we overheard later was quite tasty)!

Finally, we have to mention the amazing sunset ceremony on the Ritz Beach under the beautifully decorated Chuppa.

In one of our stills from the wedding video, you can see Julie coming down the aisle, her family close by as her dad passes her hand to Steve’s.

Just as the sun set over the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, family and friends yelled Mazal tov as Steve broke the glass and kissed the bride!

From start to finish, every moment of Julie and Steve’s wedding was truly inspirational and spectacular - from the overall design and extravagance, to the warmth and closeness of this wonderful family, we we truly honored to be present at one of the most grand events of the year in Naples, Florida!

Melody and Jeff were married on Thursday June 18, 2009 at the gorgeous  South Seas Island Resort on Sanibel Island, Florida.  This wedding was planned by Kelly McWilliams of Weddings By Socialites.  At the last minute, the weather turned to rain, and Kelly and her girls quickly set up an indoor ceremony site that was lovely.  Krista and Tiffany  from Impressions Photography photographed  the bride and groom  and did some really cool creative shots in the old fashioned ice cream parlor - called Scoops,  after the ceremony.  For those of you who don’t know, Scoops in the best little candy/ ice cream shop I have ever seen!  Certainly worth checking out if you are at South Seas.  Later, Clint Wiley rocked the house for the remainder of the reception.  A spectacular night in SW Florida.  Even with the rain, a great time was had by all.  Congratulations to Melody and Jeff.  We were so glad to take part in your special day!

Amanda and Elliot were married on Friday May 29th, 2009 at Casa Ybel on Sanibel Island.   The bride and groom came all the way from Texas to get married on the beautiful beaches of Sanibel Island. This was a complete destination wedding with all of 9 guests including the bride and groom.

In July, Amanda and Elliot  plan on having a second reception back in Texas and showing their video to friends and family who were unable to attend.

Rob and I enjoyed working with Michelle Reed Photography and we definitely got some great pictures and video coming.

After the ceremony, and sunset pictures, we went inside for some family toasts and a cake cutting.   Amanda was a pleasure to work with and she gets to wear her wedding gown twice!  Lucky girl.  Congratulations to the newlywed couple!

roomshot4-v2We love Bat Mitzvahs! They are such a wonderful  accomplishment for young people with a fantastic celebration to follow!

Zoey had her Bat Mitzvah service at Temple Beth El on Saturday May 23, 2009.    The temple was packed with so many of  Zoey’s family and friends, many of whom we have gotten to know through the years when we filmed their family’s Bar Mitzvahs and parties.

The celebration continued down in historic downtown Fort Myers at the Harborside Event Center.  This was  some party!  It was very well planned.

Zoey’s party theme was CIRCUS!   There was  even a stilt walker!

Rob from Black Tie Entertainment was there  (he is at almost every Mitzvah party) and naturally the party was a great success.

Doreen Kline was there to capture these wonderful memories with her camera and I believe that a great time was had by all!

Mazal tov to the Massie Family and thanks for including us in this cirque extravaganza!

Diana and Wes were married on Sunday, May 24th, 2009 on the South lawn of La Playa Beach Resort in Naples.

On arrival, we met up with Diana and her flower girls as they were doing some pictures with her photographer Tonya Malay.  Tonya and her team are always a pleasure to work with.

Soon afterwards, the bride and groom met for a first sighting in Lantern Lane - where they shared a quick moment with their parents, bridesmaids and groomsmen.

The ceremony was perfect and concluded with a sand ceremony, where the bride and groom combined their jars of colored sand representing the unity of their lives.

Later, Diana and Wes moved to the beach for some more video and pictures, while guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’ oeuvres on the terrace outside the Baleen ballroom.

As that last rays of sun trimmed the cloud tops in pink, the bride and groom made a break for their reception.

As guests entered the ballroom, they noticed a colorful dessert bar on the left, and the room dressed in white linens with chair covers, gorgeous centerpieces, and led lights adding splashes of color along the white backdrop near the dance-floor.

Following the introductions, first dance, toasts, and dinner hour, picked up the tempo with lots of lively dance music - where friends and family enjoyed dancing into the night.

All in all, this party was a great combination of elegance and fun - especially made obvious by the big smiles all night long from Diana and Wes on their wedding day!

Now watching: Lauren and Joshua - Sanibel Harbour Resort, FL

Lauren and Josh were married on Sunday May 24th, 2009 on Cove Beach at Sanibel Harbour Resort in Fort Myers, Florida.    The weather held out, despite the thunder, and  the rain didn’t start until the bride and groom had finally kissed!  I was relieved, as I am sure Lauren and Josh were too!  Lauren had carefully planned every single detail of her wedding and you can tell.  You couldn’t ask for a more beautiful  wedding.  Clint Wiley and his band None Other entertained us during cocktail hour on the terrace and then wowed us with his playing during the reception.  Everyone loves Clint and his band, check out his new website!  Kristin at Sanibel Harbour made sure that things were perfect.  Krista from Impressions Photography captured the evening with her assistant Mike.  This was a great wedding and we wish Lauren and Josh much happiness!

Now watching: Louisa and Jeff - Marco Island Marriott, FL

Louisa and Jeff were married on Saturday,  May 23, 2009  at the San Marco Catholic Church on Marco Island.  The ceremony was beautiful as Louisa and Jeff’s family watched teary eyed as they said their vows.   After the ceremony, the party went on to the Marco Island Marriott.  The reception took place on the tikki terrace as DJ Patrick from ACE entertainment played music for guests to enjoy all evening.   This was my first time working with Patrick, and I have to say he did a great job.  Michelle Reed photographed this event, and I am looking forward to seeing her amazing pictures.   Once again, the rain held out, and guests enjoyed dancing to the music underneath the stars on a nice breezy evening in southwest Florida!  Congratulations to the new bride and groom!

Now watching: Jamie and Chris - Pink Shell, Fort Myers Beach, FL

Jamie and Chris tied the knot Saturday, May 23, 2009 on the beach at the Pink Shell Beach Resort and Spa.  The ceremony was performed by Rev. Dr.  Dan Lamey who is known at the singing reverend.  We see Dan quite often and he his musical talents are always a hit of the party.  This wedding was planned by Kelly McWilliams of Weddings by Socialites so you know that things went perfectly.  The evening was filled with fun surprises - like the bridal party putting on crocs for introductions - knowing the bride is not a fan of the croc shoes!  Neither am I…. Also, the groom,  Chris, surprised his bride with a  3 guitar serenade which was completely unexpected.   Randy Ray was the DJ ( two weeks in a row now ) and the crowd danced well into the wee hours of the evening.  A good time was had by all!  Congrats to Jamie and Chris.

This was a destination wedding as the bride and groom came all the way from Nashville, Tennessee to get married at the gorgeous LaPlaya. The ceremony took place on the south lawn at sunset while the Vanderbilt Strings played for guests during  the ceremony.

The ball room was dressed with white linens and really looked truly elegant.   The cake was eye catching as it had chocolate icing!

I am sure it was as delicious as it was beautiful.

The Valerie Tyson Band later took over and a great time was had by all.  Guests danced the night away and Rob tells me this wedding was another great wedding in paradise!

Now watching: Kim & Ryan - the Naples Grande Beach Resort

kim-013Kim and Ryan got married on May 16th, 2009 at the Naples Grand Beach Resort.   They are an awesome couple.  I knew from my first conversation with Kim that she was going to be a great bride.  And she was!  Their wedding was perfect.  Guests were trollied down to the beach for a quick ceremony.  It looked like it was going to rain, but it never did and I was so happy for them.  Kim and Ryan came to Florida to get married on the beach and thank god the rain was everywhere that day but over the Naples Grande!  The cocktail hour was on the terrace of the ball room and the guests were treated to all kinds of delicious delights.  I have to say, the Naples Grande has really grown on me since it  changed over from The Registry  ( I tend to resist change).   Anyway, the staff here is very accommodating and a pleasure to work with.  There really is no where else like this in Naples, it is a one of a kind resort.   The groomsmen did a series of toasts that were SO funny, I am sure the Kim and Ryan will be listening to it  for years to come….DJ Randy Ray (whom I met for the first time) ran the evening very smoothly and Sam and Ashley Brockinton were there to capture the event with their photography.  Congratulations Kim and Ryan.  We were glad we were able to capture the beautiful memories of your special day.

Doesn’t their cake look like a present?

Now watching: Dorota & Jozef San Marco Church and Ritz Carlton, Naples

We were happy to be part of  the beautiful church ceremony of Dorota and Jozef on Sunday May 17th, 2009.  Dorota and Jozef got married at the San Marco Catholic Church on Marco Island, Florida.  Even though the ceremony was completely in Polish, we were able to see the love and emotion throughout the mass.    This was completely a destination wedding as I am not sure anyone but the bride spoke any English.  This time of the year, it is nice to do an occasional church wedding as opposed to the beach ceremony we see so very often.   The weather is definitely getting warmer.  After the ceremony Dorota and Jozef headed off to have their intimate reception at the Ritz Carlton in Naples.    Guests traveled from all over the world to watch Dorota and Jozef get married and I am glad we were there to capture it for those who are were not able to make it.  Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Now watching: SPECTACULAR SPECTACULAR SPECTACULAR

I am trying hard to keep up with all the blogging, but in the months of April, May and June which is wedding season in Southwest Florida it really is a difficult task.  My next blog is going to be about an event that I don’t even know where to begin to tell you guys about.  It was the most amazing wedding.  It was at the Ritz Carlton in Naples, planned by David Tutera from NY ( He has the wedding show, My Fair Wedding).  We are  fortunate to be a  preferred vendor on the Ritz Carlton list,  and see many spectacular events.    I can not wait to showcase this wedding.  It will be in our high definition gallery soon.

On another note, our daughter, Anna is making her first communion this weekend.  We are very excited and proud of her accomplishment.    At first, I was going to have a small party being  that this is a busy time of the year.  However, seeing all the weddings  and parties that we do, my ideas  just grew and grew and grew.   After a trip to the bridal salon, we picked up a dress, tiara, veil and shoes.  I have to admit it was really fun.  Then  we decided on Gulf Harbour Country Club for her party.  I do love Gulf Harbour.   Then, I had a conversation with my friend Kelly of Weddings by Socialites and the next thing you know is we have flower arrangements, green and pink linens, a cake table, and we are just planning away.    Thank you Kelly for all your help.  I see what a great asset you are to your brides first hand.    Side note………Rob, we need to start saving for Anna’s wedding now.

Now watching: Jenna and David - Hilton Naples

Jenna and David were married on May 2nd, 2009 under a beautiful drapped white chuppah on Veldado Beach in sunny Naples Florida.  After the ceremony the bride and groom took their beach photos with Tonya Malay and her team of photographers.  Sunset was perfect and I am sure Tonya got beautiful shots.   Guests enjoyed cocktail hour at the Naples Hilton while Clint Wiley entertained them with his musical talents.  The ballroom was absolutely gorgeous and I have said this before, the Hilton really is a great place to have a wedding! Paige at the Hilton  is just unbelievable and we enjoy working with her.  Jenna and Dave danced the night away to None Other, Clint’s band, and I can say for sure that a good time was had by all.  If you have not heard of Clint - check out his website.  It is brand new and it is rocking cool!  This was a great evening  and Jenna and David really had planned the perfect wedding.  Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Now watching: Amanda’s Bat Mitzvah - The Quarry, Naples

img_2849Amanda was joined by family and friends to celebrate her Bat Mitzvah on May 2nd, 2009 at the Quarry in Naples Florida.  This is a fantastic  celebration  and always a fun event to video.  We shoot about 4 or 5  Mitvahs a year, and I am always amazed at what a grand  event this really is.  The theme of Amanda’s  bat mitzvah was American Idol.    Check out the cool cake she had!  The dancing was non-stop.  But, that is exactly what you can expect from Rob at Black-Tie Entertainment.    He brings the coolest games, lighting , dance motivators, and the kids are completely entertained all evening long.  The table names were all the previous American Idols, like Taylor Hicks, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.  During the evening everyone stopped to gather around to watch a video presentation of Amanda’s life and the tears start flowing.  Moms always have a hard time getting the pictures down to 150 or so!   I don’t know if I would be able to weed it down to that many pictures of my daughter!   This was indeed a special celebration and very well planned out.   Mazal Tov to Amanda and her wonderful family.  Jaron and I enjoyed filming your party!     Click here to see her dance video in our HD gallery!

<a title="Wedding of Sara and Dan, Fort Myers, Florida" href=

To say “beautiful” is an understatement, as our bride Sara, her groom Dan, and their lovely family prepared for the ceremony on Gulf Harbour’s island beach.

Meanwhile, the professional food and beverage staff led by Georgine Davidson at Gulf Harbour readied the ballroom for the sunset dinner reception and party.

So many things to remember…we can’t say enough about this wedding!

Pictures were done by Cher Hanna Photography as a charming string quartet played music for the ceremony at the Water’s edge.  The breeze was light and temperatures perfect as we witnessed Sara walk down the aisle to her new husband…

Later, guests enjoyed the cocktail hour overlooking the yacht club followed by a spectacular dinner and reception,  with music by  Randy Bender.

As we mentioned to Sara’s Mom and Dad following the wedding, the warmth of the family, friends, and especially the joy of the bride and groom truly made the wedding an event to remember!

To leave you with a taste of the wedding, here are several video snapshots and a special video clip of the most unique, Best man’s toast ever recorded! Hang in there, this one’s a musical and will make you laugh right out of your seat as Dan’s Best man (look for his sticker) pays tribute to his best friend!

It was the first time I had worked with the band, Hyper, and they were amazing. Michelle Reed Photography and AMC Video BOTH had a great time at this wedding! It was actually fun for Matias and I to shoot and we  didn’t want the night to end! Desiree and Jason’s first dance show you just how fun of a couple they are, and they really know how to throw a party. Cocktails and a casual atmosphere treated the guests to a wonderful time as the bride and groom took sunset pictures and video on the beach with their bridal party.

Later, Kristina and Heinz were introduced to the reception across in the street in the ballroom, where they moved right into their romantic but spirited first dance!

As always, the catering events staff at the LaPlaya were fantastic - esp Kathy, LaPlaya’s newest coordinator and banquet manager.

Enjoy a few snapshots from Kristina and Heinz’s elegant wedding to mark this fantastic event on the beaches of sunny SouthWest Florida.

Now watching: Suzanne & George - Hilton Naples

Suzanne and George had a beautiful wedding on April 4, 2009.  They started out at Vedado Beach.  The really had planned perfectly every last detail.  As the groom entered, the bagpipers played to announce the start of the ceremony…I just love bagpipers!  There is something about that they really gets my heart pounding.  Later, after saying their marriage vows, the bride and groom released butterflies marking the end of their beautiful beach ceremony.  Then guests boarded a trolley and were off to the Naples Hilton where Paige Simpson runs this top notch venue.  First Dance from wedding of Suzzane and George Suzzane and George - Hilton, Naples The room was absolutely gorgeous! There was live fish in a vase near the place card table, which I thought was pretty cool. If you are looking for a really beautiful ballroom with a short trolley to the beach, check out the Naples Hilton. Paige is more then accommodating making this venue one of my favorites. Congratulations to Suzanne and George.  Another spectacular wedding in paradise!

Now watching: Video Compliments Photography

There are several intrinsic qualities of video that make it stand out as different yet complimentary to photography.

First, there’s the sentimental value of something - this value grows over time just like an old photo of some important memory from your past. Many people consider those moments in time invaluable in the sense that it can’t be replaced or replicated. That specific moment lives on only in your memory and that photo may be the only record of that memory. The same holds true for video but in an enhanced, animated way since video captures both sights and sounds over time.  Just ask your parents about their wedding video - if they have one what it means to them!

For me, video held little value when I got married (as is the case for many grooms that we meet before the wedding). However, people quickly discover that that video’s value grows as time passes after the wedding. Although my wedding video looks nothing like the products that we now produce, it does capture certain things that photography does not - like the sounds of the day! For example, the speeches, jokes, and well wishes that various people give on your wedding day - those make for great pictures but they make for better video…

Thank you to my mother-in-law who was convinced that one day we would appreciate our wedding video!

Now, when my 8 year old daughter watches her mommy walking down the aisle all dressed in white, it makes me warm inside to know that she can share our experience even though she wasn’t there at that moment. Who wouldn’t want their children to share in their special day? Now, video is worth everything to me!  Her funniest comment to date is that she “wants to see mommy and daddy when they looked young!”  Hmmm – the clarity of a child’s thoughts!

(Where did the time go?)  Congratulations Lynne and Jeffrey!  I can’t wait to have you guys over to preview the footage.

After some picture and video time, the bride and groom headed to the beach club for their beach front ceremony, followed by sunset and family pictures with Tonya Malay Photography and of course, a wonderful dinner on the open Mediterra terrace. It was so pretty and just perfect.

But wait! Laura is one lucky bride. She had the perfect reception at Mediterra and soon she is having a second reception in Minnesota! So they asked us if they could share their Florida wedding with family and friends up north, so they selected a package that includes a Director’s cut  (movie trailer) so she can share her amazing wedding at her second reception within a couple of weeks.  What a great idea!

Laura also choose a 3 camera high definition package so the footage is truly spectacular (these are a few snapshots from the video).

Enjoy this lovely and truly romantic director’s cut of their special day!

Now watching: Bryan and Jamie - Pelican Preserve, Fort Myers

img_2316-v2

Bryan and Jamie were married February 28, 2009 at Pelican Preserve on a bright sunny day after a few pics together at the Edison Home and downtown Fort Myers.

Some of you may know Jamie since she is a local photographer (take a look at her blog here: http://jamieleephotography.com/blog/. Being a photographer, Jamie got to see lots of great ideas and had no problem planning a fantastic wedding - her theme was Hollywood Glamor!

The girls had feather boas, the guys were in top hats. When you entered the room, via the red carpet, guests posed with Marilyn Monroe or Elvis. Later on, Elvis even sang a song to entertain the crowd!  Ron Rutz was the  DJ keeping the crowd dancing all night long.  Rob and Lee had a great time filming, while Anna (my daughter)  and I had a great time dancing, as we were guests!  Jamie & Bryan completed the evening with a sparkler exit. Congratulations Jamie and Bryan!

We were so happy to take part in her SPECIAL day!

Now watching: Video is about Sound - Voices, Speeches, Music

Have you ever heard the statement - “we weren’t going to get a video…”?  Well, we have heard it plenty and often think that it’s because video in the wedding world is completely misunderstood.

Let’s start with the concept of editing. Many think that editing means adding some cheesy transitions and deleting a bunch of clips from the movie.  Of course, we are here to tell you that there’s a LOT more to editing than adding transitions! In fact, transitions (whether they are cheesy or not) is the least of a real editor’s worries.  Unfortunately, many low-end video companies have focused on this aspect because it’s the quickest and easiest thing they can do - there is no creativity here and certainly no thoughtfulness involved.

In reality, editing is really about deciding what needs to be fixed and how, what camera has the best or most creative shot, how to balance the sound, and it’s about composition - much like writing a story.  Editing is about creating and showing the setting, the details, the people, and the behind the scenes story.  The story in the video should be comprehensive and alive and it should show the magic of the day’s events! It should capture the flavor and the theme of the day, the colors, the action, and the people. Yes, we want to see as many people in the video as possible - after all, those are your closest friends and family, right?

Finally, let’s realize that video is also about the sound, the speeches, and the music! Often, the sound in a movie is overlooked precisely because it is so intertwined in the story that it is not fully realized.  Similarly, in a well edited wedding video, understand that a huge part of its’ emotional power and contribution to your experience (after the wedding) has to do with the sights and sounds of your day!  And for editors, the sounds of the day can be used like a vehicle - a transition from one scene to the next - that’s where real editing comes into play.  The sounds of the day could be the string quartet that’s playing before the ceremony, or the soft whispers of the bride and groom during the vows, or the toasts of the best man and maid of honor. And yes, the sound also includes the music of the band or the DJ or the unexpected song at the reception.  In editing, a majority of our work ultimately has to do with sound - making sure that the voices are loud enough, eliminating background noise, balancing the volume of the dance music, and even adding sound and music throughout the movie to tie scenes together.

It’s no wonder then that we view TV and movies more than any other medium. We are already accustomed to seeing and hearing things in video and movies which actually makes you the expert when it comes knowing how to choose a video company!  In fact, our readers are already the experts in video because they already know what they like, dislike, and what it should look like on the big screen!

So why do people wonder about getting a video of their wedding? Honestly we really don’t know, since it seems so obvious that video, done well, can capture so much more than just the visuals. In fact, we are all so accustomed to video already that it would seem like the priority instead of the last minute addition, right?

Therefore, when you ask yourself that question “why get a video,” perhaps your answer is  - so I can hear the toasts, so I can hear my band or DJ, and so I can hear my vows again - and better yet, so your entire family can hear all those moments again and relive one of the best days of your life!

Now watching: Advice to Photographers from a Video Company

Within the wedding business, it’s well known that bride’s often establish a relationship of trust with their photographers and look to them for advice on finding other vendors.  So here’s some specific advice for our many photographer friends that are helping their brides locate and secure a reputable video company.

First, “Brides - do your homework!” Spend the time to call the videographers/cinematagraphers on the phone and make an appointment to see them!  This is just as important as when they booked photo services because it gives both parties  a chance to get to know each other, learn more about their work and processes, their style, and  establishes an understanding of expectations, which directly translates to the quality of the final video!

Second, “Brides, look at, watch, take home a typical, full length finished sample!” This is so very important because those three minute samples on the website is not enough to know what your finished video REALLY looks like!  Believe us (a video company) when we tell you that good work takes time to produce, just like in photography.  This has nothing to do with special effects and pre-canned cheesy transitions.  We are talking about things like color balance, composition, sound balance, cutting out rough and shaky shots, and incorporating creative and artistic things that make each section more interesting and  fun to watch.  This also means using shots from different cameras to add reactions and more creative shots that are possible when filming with more than one camera operator.  A good video is also about keeping the live sections live - keeping the live audio in tact so the bride can hear her vows, witness her first dance live with the actual song that was used, and hear those toasts as they were made by dear friends and family.  Many sub-par video companies will cut this stuff out or cover it with music simply to save time editing!

So what is our overall (humble) advice to our photographer friends? Encourage your brides to be good consumers! Tell them why its important to take the time to see a FULL sample of a real product from any video company and to shop around and compare a few videos so they know what is possible.  And please please please, advise them to meet the videographers in person! It’s fundamentally important to see the whole picture - from their presentation, to their organizaation, look and style, creativity, and customer service skills.  Remember that all of theses things combined make a customer’s experience and end-product a rewarding and worthwhile one!

Now watching: Filming with 1 camera – it’s a lose lose!

Recently we have had extended conversations with several brides, planners, and photographers about shooting a wedding with one camera (and operator) vs. two or more.

Naturally, this discussion stems from pricing differences between different companies – that is, shooting with 2 or more cameras obviously costs (a bit) more than one in terms of time and extra editing work.

When we first started video, we primarily shot 1 camera (myself) and later, after several “experiences”, added a backup person (an assistant).  And after more than 10 years of weddings, we continue to use at least 2 cameras at every job because ultimately, we want the best for our brides!

This is not to say however, that sometimes the conditions warrant scaling this back to one camera / videographer to be sensitive to the tone and setting of the wedding.  For example, doing a wedding on a boat or in someone’s house, or perhaps a very small ceremony only on a beach.  Obviously those smaller intimate events demand sensitivity so we don’t create a media circus and distract from the most important thing – the actual event!

So why bother with 2 or more cameras?  Well, here’s a few reasons why:

1. With 1 camera, you lose the ability to get creative shots during the live action or protocol events.  This is because if you move around with one camera with nobody to back you up, you forfeit steady shots and create more editing work and possibly sacrifice the quality of your final shot (shaky moving video as seen in the Blair Witch Project).

2.  With 1 camera, you lose the different perspectives that we are accustomed to in tv and movies.  That is, you can only have shots of from the back or side during the vows but not both unless you chop up the live action.  That means that you lose those nice close-ups and reaction shots during your vows, speeches, songs, toasts, and other times.  Like when the bride says her vows, we can’t see both her and the grooms smiles and mom’s and dad’s reactions either – you are forced out of necessity to take one “general shot” which is usually from the back of the aisle.

3. With 1 camera, you can’t be in two places at once.  That means, you can’t get the funny candid shots with the bridal party or family during picture time AND be filming the cocktail hour at the same time.

4. With 1 camera, if you are trying to do creative shots and get details of something, then you are missing something else.  For example, if you are filming romance shots on the beach, then you are missing the rest of the guests during cocktail hour. Therefore, without the extra help and camera, you lose many of the segways that are later used tell the story of the wedding.

5. With 1 camera, you can’t get those cool creative shots during your first dance that we do (like the birds eye view shots), the close-ups, the angular shots, and the wide shots including parent reactions and people looking on.

6. With 1 camera, during toasts, you miss the bride and groom or parent’ reaction shots while the main speaker is doing the toast.

7.  With 1 camera – you don’t have backup.  That means if someone gets in the way or blocks an important moment (like the bride walking down the aisle), then that shot is lost forever!

8. With 1 camera, you may not have backup equipment – what happens if something breaks down?  I mean equipment is not perfect.  What happens if you think you are recording but aren’t?  What happens if a tape or disk has a failure without the operator’s knowledge at the time?  With 2 cameras, we always double film all of the important protocol so matter what, the important sequences are safely covered.

So the next time you read a video package that says filmed with 1 camera where that company is supposedly giving you great coverage- at least you know what you are losing from your final product and why!  Rob Epple

Now watching: Preferred Vendors Lists

[this post has been updated by the editor to include some additional notes for clarification - all additions have been placed in brackets like this]

Kelly McWilliams (Weddings by Socialites) just did an excellent post on this topic and I have been wanting to throw in my 2 cents since I read it!  Here is a link to Kelly’s post if you have not seen it.

Brides, do your research.   We have seen several lists from bridal salons, venues, and other businesses that have companies that “pay” to be part of the vendors list [we are not talking about paid advertising sites, brochures, or traditional marketing avenues].  While this may be a good tool to get you started [and/or to increase your frequency of name recognition], it should not be used exclusively.  We personally do not believe in paying to be part of vendor lists,  since we believe in being listed based on merit, quality of work, and professionalism, among other things! [AMC does however subscribe to certain websites, paid for advertising directories, etc.)

AMC has been fortunate and extremely grateful to be listed as a preferred vendor at many of the resorts at Sanibel, Captivia, Fort Myers, and Naples.  When you start seeing the same name pop up everywhere, that is a good sign [but not the only one].

So our advice to brides [hasn't changed even this post has been updated] - Please, Do your homework!  Take the time to see your vendors, your banquet managers, and your coordinators. Meet them, see their work, and establish your goals one-on-one with each other. Establishing this type of relationship will pay off for all parties involved in a multitude of ways.

[Our second message here, with much humility, is that we feel that paying to be on a list dismantles the whole point of referring those your trust to do the right thing, to represent the venue as it wants to be represented to the customer, and it no longer bases the quality of service or product on merit.  It dissolves the whole value of a strong strategic alliance between venue and vendor.  For that reason, we urge customers to do their homework because ultimately it seems to cross the line when someone is paying to be referred vs. when someone is represented or referred based on merit, trust, and reliability.

Many of the area banquet managers know that we (AMC) tries to look at things from a venues point of view - esp since we know that venues have their fair share of thankless hassles to deal with as well, including vendor politics! So hear us when we say that we are grateful and consider it a privilege to be listed with you!  Those referals mean the world to our business and the intent is to preserve and protect a strong relationship at all times.

We also consider it a responsibility to share and work with the venues - to make it a win-win for those involved starting with the customer!  Ultimately we want to voice a message that those relationships that have been formed (between us as preferred vendor), really should be honored and works well when founded on those priciples of working together toward a common goal, implict trust, treating the customer with first prioroty, etc.!  However, the politics, the payments, and the rest - well that seems to really cloud the point of our jobs, doesn't it?]
